We won't pretend that things have ever been easy, though. Shoe strings are quite robust compared with what we have often existed on, but we're still here when lots of others have come and gone. However, a little more security would be a wonderful thing: a safety net makes sure that fRoots can continue for another 28 years and more. We'd like to build on what we have achieved, continue our musical activism, and be able to train people to carry it on.

One thing that has always kept us going through thick and thin has been the exceptional loyalty and goodwill of our many long-term subscribers. A few years ago, some of our closest friends and supporters suggested a way that they and others could contribute to the independent future of fRoots.

If you value, enjoy and believe in fRoots, and have the resources, you can become a Lifetime Supporting Subscriber. By making one lump contribution now, you will receive fRoots until either you or we shuffle off this jumping sphere (and the whole point of this scheme is that we're aiming for immortality!). But more importantly, you'll be helping to secure the future of the one magazine which has already consistently supported this music through thick and thin for more than 28 years.

We'll leave it up to you to decide what you'd like to contribute. Just for common sense we have set a minimum of £550 for the UK, £700 for Europe/Surface worldwide and £900 for airmail outside Europe. But if anybody feels able to be a more generous patron, they can specify their own figure.
