fRoots Reviews Index [issues 1-302/303]
This index lists all the reviews that have appeared in fRoots, and its earlier title Southern Rag, from issue 1 (July 1979). Index entries are listed alphabetically under artist surname, band name, event name or (where unavoidable) title.

A-Z Sorting
The indexer recognises that the automated sorting (used for
issues 1-282) is not entirely satisfactory, nor always
consistent. Manual tweaking of the alphabetical order is ongoing!
Band Names
Where a band name begins with the definite article, the precedent
set by existing fRoots indexes was followed when embarking on the reviews index: in English, it
is ignored in the filing order (e.g. 'Pogues, The'); in other
languages, it is not ignored (e.g. La Cucina are under 'L').
Band names beginning with the name of a particular person are listed under that individual's surname (with cross-references from other elements of the band name, if appropriate).
Titles
The definite/indefinite article is retained in the filing order,
regardless of language. BUT where a title (or event) is an index
entry in its own right (i.e. no artist or author is given), the
definite/indefinite article is ignored.
Festivals & Other Events
These are normally filed under title, rather than under
'Various', and are shown in italics. Numbered festivals/events:
the number is ignored in the filing order.
Miscellaneous
Where an album is credited to a variant form of the artist's
name, this is indicated after the established form of the name.
Cross-references are given where necessary. Where a record label
is not known, the number (if known) is shown in square brackets.
